Candidate Bio
Lauren Joe and
Isabella Jakubczyk (Co-nominees)
Hello our names are Isabella Jakubczyk and Lauren Joe and we are running for VP KUS social! Both of us are third year transfer students from Capilano University in the interdisciplinary stream. Being new to UBC we would love to immerse ourselves in the KIN culture and we believe that our skills will help to move it forward. Isabella was the class representative on the student council at Capilano making sure voices were heard and dreams came true. Lauren was involved in organizing the recent career fair at UBC. Our relationship over the past few years has helped us work as one lean, mean, giggly machine! As kinners, we are famously known for our extroverted personality. So why not embrace that and partake in social events showcasing who is number one in spirit! It is our goal to make such events that will bring everyone together. Dry gatherings for those under 19 are something that we would like to expand. We were so flipping excited when gymnastics was introduced that it is one thing we would like to continue rolling with. In addition, we would like to enhance our relationship between UBC Vancouver and UBC Okanangan. Things like the Big White trip is a great way to bring both campuses together. Not only do we want to develop new get-togethers, but enhance the ones that have been a long standing classic such as boat cruise and Dinners for Kinners. It has been shown that families that engage in activities together have a stronger bond. We are a KIN family; let’s share some laughs that will last a lifetime.
Dillan-Jean Karst and Natasha Fung
(Co-nominees)

What’s up KIN?!I think we can all agree that with the new name change we need to bring bigger and better events to the KIN faculty, and as a team we are ready to take on that challenge. First we would like to tell you a little about ourselves.

Hey KIN! My name is Dillan Karst and I am running to be your next VP Social alongside Natasha Fung. I spent my first year in Kelowna at UBCO but soon realized that UBC Van was my calling and transferred here for my second year. As a Kinesiology student, I have always had a passion for being active. This has led me towards organizing and being apart of many intramural teams. (Basketball, Volleyball, Ultimate). I am currently involved with UBC REC where I work at the OPS desk in the SRC. So if you have any questions about intramurals, events or you just want to chat, I’m your girl. Being apart of the KUS Social Committee this year and seeing how much fun everyone had has made me want to pursue a bigger role within the department. Not only do I love being involved during school hours but after hours as well, and what better way to do that then with KIN! We believe social events provide an opportunity for the KIN faculty to connect with each other and our goal is to ultimately make a tight KIN family. I want to show people that there is more to university life than just academics and this position will allow me to do this!

Natasha is totally cray and has a passion for organizing events!! She is currently a third year Kin student in the Education steam. She has been involved within the faculty since first year and has lots of leadership experience with organizing events and teams. She started out as an Emerging Leader with the VPS Emerging Leaders Program, then became a Pod Leader in second year, and now since the program has changed, is currently a year round MUG leader! She joined the KUS last year as a second year rep, and is currently on the Social Committee and a Physical Education stream rep. She has captained a number of Rec sports teams as well as organized teams for Rec events such as Storm the Wall. Based on previous experiences, she is ready to face the challenges that VP Social will throw at her. Her love for Kin is just too much to handle and she loves attending all the Kin events!! The only time she wears the colour green is Kin related, and when she does, she goes all out! She always knows where the party’s at and knows how to have a good time! Now she wants to share that experience with her fellow Kinners. You only have one life so LIVE IT UP!!!
LOVE YOU KINNERS!

Together we want to make your KIN experience here at UBC a kintastic, kinsational, and kickin BLAST! So this is what we have in store for you! Our goals for next year are:

• More under 19 events
• More organized REC KIN sport teams
• Bring back all the famous annual events- Boat Cruise, Rum n Egger, Big White ski trip, Career Fair, Roosters, Dinner for Kinners, Gymnastics night
• Bring back KIN Pit nights! (WITH THEMES!)
