Hey LFS’ers!
My name is Whitney, and I’m a 3rd year Dietetics student running to be YOUR Land and Food Systems Undergraduate Society President! I am running in this election because I am passionate about working with students and the faculty to enrich the undergraduate experience for all LFS Students. Through my extensive volunteer and employment background both at UBC and in the community, I feel I have the skills to help strengthen our undergrad society. With experience within the LFS|US in the past two years, as the Co-Social Coordinator last year, and my current position as Vice President External, I feel I am a very strong candidate for this position. I have gained invaluable skills and knowledge regarding the faculty and the LFS|US through these positions, and will continue to build on the already strong traits our society brings. Some aspects I would like to work on include: 1) To encourage and develop initiatives to maintain strong communication with LFS based clubs. 2) Work with the faculty and LFS advising to create and implement more opportunities for student to strengthen their personal and professional development. 3) Strengthen and ease the transition process for new-to-UBC students, including first year students. 4) Improve events and programs already implemented by the LFS|US, and reinforce two concepts LFS has much pride towards: community and sustainability.
